Nothing Flashy About It.

Ok, I admit it – I have not read this book and know nothing about it’s content, other than the title. But I do know just a few things about this book that I would like to share with you.

First, take the cover – nothing flashy or particularly eye-catching about it, in my opinion. But, I do know Ed’s book was reviewed by Publisher’s Weekly Magazine. That is an accomplishment right there.

A few years ago at the Florida Publishers Association “College”, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the big wigs at Publishers Weekly  - Cevin Bryerman and Sara Nelson. They quoted some statistics as to how many galley proofs they receive on a weekly basis  for review. It was mind boggling.  So, I am going to place my bet that there is something good to be had inside this cover.

Secondly, Ed, it seems, is a master at this social media marketing stuff. So, word is traveling really well about his book. He has actually given me a few tips in this newfangled field of marketing.

Lessons learned regarding independent publishing -

  • Title is important
  • Cover needs to reflect what is on the inside
  • Writing needs to be solid
  • A book published by a smaller unknown press can  attract notoriety
  • There are lots of non-traditional ways of book marketing in this  day and age
  • Persistance, determination and belief in your writing pays off!!
